About Alpine Psychology

What is Psychology?

Psychology seeks to support individuals, families, and communities to understand themselves more deeply and to navigate life’s challenges in ways that enhance well-being and quality of life. As described by the the Australian Psychological Society (APS), psychology is a profession focused on helping people and communities find practical solutions to real-life concerns, including mental health and well-being, relationships, learning, performance, and social connection.

Here at Alpine Psychology, we operate from a trauma-informed, neuro-affirming perspective, and recognise that people’s experiences, nervous systems, and ways of thinking and interacting with the world are shaped by life experiences and their environments. Therapy prioritises safety, choice, collaboration, and respect, and acknowledges the impact of trauma on the body, emotions, identity, and relationships.

Using evidence-informed approaches, therapy is tailored to each individual’s needs, strengths, and goals. Sessions are collaborative and paced carefully, supporting clients to develop practical tools, build resilience, and foster greater balance and well-being in ways that feel supportive and meaningful for them.

About Cath

Cath is a dedicated registered clinical psychologist who supports individuals to develop greater self-understanding, resilience, and balance in their lives. Working carefully and thoughtfully, she works collaboratively with clients, tailoring therapy to each person’s individual needs, values, and lived experiences. Cath provides psychological services in a calm, respectful, and non-judgemental space, with a strong focus on trauma-informed practice, prioritising emotional safety, choice, and autonomy.

Cath has clinical experience working with individuals across the lifespan and from diverse backgrounds. She has supported individuals, families, and groups experiencing a range of concerns, including mood fluctuations, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, panic, stress, trauma responses, dissociation, low self-worth, anger, and relationship difficulties. Drawing on evidence-informed psychological approaches, her work is grounded in the understanding that many emotional and behavioural responses are meaningful adaptations to life experiences, and works collaboratively to support healing at a pace that feels manageable for each person.

Cath has experience supporting individuals, families and groups who have experienced difficulties including anxiety, emotional dysregulation, mood difficulties, stress and burnout, trauma, dissociation, and challenges related to self-worth, anger and relationships. She has experience working with individuals presenting with PTSD, complex trauma, dissociative conditions such as Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and Other Specified Dissociative Disorder (OSDD), as well as other dissociative experiences that may not meet diagnostic criteria.

As a neurodiversity-affirming practitioner with both lived and clinical experience, Cath recognises neurological differences as natural variations of the human experience. She works alongside neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD and autism, in ways that respect identity, strengths, and individual communication and processing styles.

Therapy is guided by each client’s pace and readiness, with careful attention to nervous system regulation, collaboration, and informed consent.

Cath holds full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia with clinical endorsement.  She is an EMDRAA accredited EMDR practitioner and a member of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA), and the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA). She holds a Master of Clinical Psychology along with postgraduate and undergraduate qualifications in psychology and related fields. Cath is dedicated to ongoing professional development and regularly undertakes advanced training in trauma, dissociation, EMDR, parts-based therapies, and neurodiversity-affirming practice to ensure her work reflects current ethical standards, reflective and best practice.

"I am humbled by the stories my clients choose to share and honoured to walk alongside them as they work towards greater understanding and personal growth."
